International SOS Travel Accident and Inconvenience Insurance benefits are provided to BankMed cardholders and immediate family members according to their card type.


Travel Accident and Inconvenience Insurance Coverage

All of the below insurance benefits are subject to the "Benefits Limitations & Eligibility" conditions provided herein.

Personal Liability
Compensates you for all sums of damages which you become legally liable to pay to a third party claimant following an accident involving accidental death, bodily injury, or damage to material property.

Travel Delay (per hour)
Pays you (after the first 4 hours of delay) if departure time is different from the details of the travel plan up to a maximum of 12 hours. Written confirmation of delay must be obtained from the airline.

Baggage Delay (per hour)
Pays you (after the first 4 hours) for lost or misplaced baggage up to a maximum of 12 hours. Written confirmation of delay must be obtained from the airline.

Travel Documents Replacement
Covers the costs incurred for replacing forgotten, lost, or misplaced essential documents needed whilst on a journey.

Such costs must be approved by the International SOS prior to their being incurred.

Hi-jack (per day)
Pays you for each day of detention, if the means of transport was subject to hi-jack, for a maximum of 21 days.

Legal Expenses / Protection
Covers expenses arising from the pursuit of a claim against a third party who has caused your bodily injury, illness, or death.

Emergency Evacuation and Repatriation
Arrangement and payment of emergency medical evacuation following illness or accident to nearest hospital; your return to the principal country of residence following a medical evacuation; transportation of mortal remains in case of death; transportation of one family member to join you if hospitalized as a result of accident or illness; return of dependent children if they are left unattended as a result of your illness or accident.

Personal Accident (Full Trip)
Pays you, or any assigned beneficiary, in case you sustain bodily injury at any time during a journey resulting in death, permanent total disablement, or dismemberment.

Emergency Medical Expenses
Covers the medical expenses incurred (in excess of US$ 150) if you sustain a bodily injury or an illness or have an accident.

Loss of Baggage
Compensates you for loss or damage to baggage (in excess of US$ 75) up to the specified limit. You must provide a detailed description of the property supported by bills, invoices, or other proofs. 

Loss of Money
Compensates you for loss or damage to money (in excess of US$ 75) up to the specified limit. You must provide a detailed description of the money.

Cancellation
Compensates you for the unused portion of the prepaid travel and accommodation expenses incurred as result of cancellation of your journey for reasons of death, bodily injury, illness, compulsory quarantine, jury service, hi-jacking, or cancellation of scheduled public transportation service.


Special Conditions

  • You should not be more than 75 years old.
  • The Travel Accident and Inconvenience Insurance Benefits include any family member (spouse and dependent children) who is traveling on a Journey from your Principal Country of residence with pre-assigned ticketing.
  • Certain limitations and exclusions will apply.

How to Claim the Insurance and Benefits?

Medical and Travel Assistance services are directly provided by International SOS. In case a 3rd party (physician or courier) is utilized, the provision of such services is at your expense.

Required Documents

To request or claim any of the benefits or insurance services, you must provide some evidence in the following cases:

Personal Liability

You shall give immediate notice to the insurance company of any occurrence for which there may be liability and shall provide the information that may be required and forward any received letter, writ, summons or any issue related to the said occurrence.

Loss of Money

You must provide a detailed description of the Money.

Loss of Baggage

You must provide a detailed description of the property along with its date of purchase and value. Bills, invoices or other proof are required. Stolen or damaged property will be valued allowing for wear and tear at the time of loss.

Travel delay

You shall have checked-in according to the itinerary given by the tour operator and shall have obtained a written confirmation of delay from the airline/shipping line or their handling agents.

Baggage delay

You shall have obtained a written confirmation of delay from the airline/shipping line or their handling agents stating the actual period of delay.

Document Replacement

All costs must be approved by International SOS before incurring them.
